Santa Clause Is Coming To Town...

I was reading the paper this morning when I came across an amazing story about a "layaway angel" in K-Mart. This layaway angel who remains anonymous was walking around the store, handing out $50 bills and paying peoples layaways. People around the world were getting phone calls from K-Mart saying their bill (some of nearly over 500 dollars) paid off. One man walked into K-Mart to say he simply could not afford any of the items he had put on layaway earlier in the year but the layaway angel was right behind him in line and made sure that his family and him had a christmas by paying for everything he wanted. This woman's husband has recently passed and left her with money she would never be able to spend on her own. Instead of being selfish, she spread holiday joy for families throughout the world.

While the story was touching and heart breaking, it also made me think that people have forgotten what the real meaning of christmas is. While I love the idea of hanging stockings, putting up a christmas tree, wrapping presents, making cookies, ect there's one thing I love more over everything else and that is spending time with my family.

There's nothing I would rather do than spend a day with my family. And not just on Thanksgiving and Christmas either, everyday of the year!

I feel as if people have been more stressed this year than they have in the past. It saddens me to know some children won't be waking up to presents under their tree and some may not even know what Christmas is.

Mason is finally to an age where he enjoys opening presents and he gets really excited to see christmas lights and he loves the fact that Santa is coming to his house soon. Christmas Eve, we plan on making reindeer food (oatmeal and glitter). You just mix the two things in a sandwich bag and spread it outside your house (it's much prettier and better if you have snow lol). My parents started doing it with me when I was younger and I plan on passing it down to my kids.

I know some of you who read this may be struggling this holiday season with providing your children with a Christmas but remember, you are giving them the best present of all;; a loving, hard working, caring parent and that's a lot more than what a lot of other kids have today. While your child/children may not understand it now, they will someday and they will realize that they were truly blessed with something amazing.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

Happy Birthday To The Love Of My Life

As I sit here and type this, I think about the past two years and all that has happened in my life.

I was never the girl who had her whole wedding planned and her kids named by the time she was 10. So for me to find out I would be expecting a baby was a huge surprise and far from planned. But not once will you ever hear me say I regret it, having Mason was the smartest thing I ever did.

I never thought I could love one human being so much. Even before I had given birth I didn't really realize how much I truly already loved him. The second I pulled him out I knew I had done something right in life even if the timing was a little bad. One look into those eyes and I knew he'd have me wrapped around his finger for forever and then some.

Mason Dash; Watching you grow into the boy you have become has been wonderful. It's amazing to watch you develop your own personality and you have made my life 1000 and 1 times better than I ever thought it could possibly be. I would be done for if anything ever happened to you and probably thrown in jail if anyone ever hurt you. You will always be my little bear or sprout as I call you even though you hate when I call you that now :) I love you my pumpy wumpy umpkin <3

Holistic Nutrition. ,

When I first started doing my "Mommy Blog" someone asked me about how I got turned onto holistic nutrition and how they should start. I realize most of you will be all blah, organic food, gross. But we're all subject to our own opinions. I for one enjoy the new lifestyle I have created for myself. While Scott isn't exactly a fan and tends to do as he pleases, Mason and I eat organically and I also used to make baby food for Mason which I'll be sure to blog about as well later on. Here are a list of things to eat and not to eat

What To Eat;;
  • Drink adequate amounts of purified water. At least 8 eight ounce glasses a day.
  • Choose organic food. Avoid pesticides, herbicides, genetically modified foods, and irradiated foods.
  • Choose whole grain foods. They carry more nutrition and fiber.
  • Try to buy locally grown.
  • Fatty acids are necessary for good health. Eat good fats in moderation but don't avoid fat all together.
  • Eat raw and minimally processed whole living food. Foods in their natural state contain more nutrients and active enzymes.
  • Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods.
What To Avoid;;
  • Eliminate refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial sweeteners.
  • Limit your salt intake to no more than 2300 mg a day
  • Coffee and soda.
  • Trans fat.
  • Don't microwave food or beverages.
  • Food additives such as artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, and MSG.
  • Genetically Modified Foods
I also deal with a lot of herbs now as well (no, not pot) There are 5 herbs you should look into if you're looking into losing weight. They are; Ginger, Wheat Grass, Cayenne, Bitter Orange, and Green Tea Leaves.
Cayenne as long as being good for weight loss is also good for better blood circulation, blood pressure, ect.

Hope these few tips help. Happy eating everyone!
